The Roma squad has
agreed not to collect their salaries for the next four months to contribute to
the club's economy while there is no competition. The players of the first team will not receive a single euro of
their payroll for the duration of the stoppage caused by the coronavirus, a
measure that would be reversed when it was decided to return to activity.
According to Corriere
dello Sport, the agreement contemplates that in the period between March
and June the players' sheet is not paid so that the club can continue to pay
the payroll to the workers. Recently, the ‘giallorossi’ team appealed to the
government for help in meeting its commitments to club staff.
Roma thus becomes the third team in the
Italian League to approve a pay cut that has not caught on at a general level
between unions and clubs. Juventus and
Parma had previously reached agreements with their squads to alleviate the
economic crisis caused by Covid-19.
In addition to its players, the coaching staff, with Coach
Paulos Fonseca at the helm, also accepted a measure that led the board when it
decided not to collect its payrolls in March to help the club coffers.
In case of returning to the activity, either at the end of
May or the beginning of June, the school would collect the stipulations in
their contracts, so that only two of the four agreed months would have stopped
paying their wages.
